METHODOLOGICAL INFORMATION

Description of Dataset
This dataset contains laboratory flume experiment data generated using sediment collected from the Ingoldisthorpe treatment wetland during 2025.

The dataset includes measurements associated with:

* sediment mobilisation,
* turbidity generation,
* hydraulic disturbance,
* and erosion-related phosphorus release processes.

The dataset was developed to investigate:

* sediment stability,
* erosion susceptibility,
* cumulative sediment mobilisation,
* phosphorus remobilisation risk,
* and hydraulic stress responses within treatment wetlands.

Description of Data Collection
Sediment samples were collected from the Ingoldisthorpe treatment wetland and subjected to controlled hydraulic flume experiments under progressively increasing flow velocities.

Sediment mobilisation and turbidity responses were monitored throughout the experiments.

Measured parameters may include:

* Flow velocity
* Turbidity
* Cumulative turbidity
* Time
* Sediment mobilisation response
* Experimental stage
* Hydraulic conditions

Analytical Methods

Flume Experiment Procedures
Controlled laboratory flume experiments were undertaken using wetland sediment samples to assess erosion susceptibility and sediment mobilisation behaviour under increasing hydraulic stress.

Sediment samples were placed within the flume system and exposed to stepwise increases in flow velocity.

Turbidity Monitoring
Turbidity responses were monitored throughout the experimental period to quantify sediment entrainment and mobilisation.

Cumulative turbidity was used as an indicator of overall sediment erosion and mobilisation behaviour.

Hydraulic Stress Assessment
Experimental flow conditions were progressively increased to evaluate erosion thresholds and mobilisation dynamics under varying hydraulic stress conditions.

Experimental Conditions
Laboratory flume experiments were undertaken under controlled hydraulic conditions during 2025 using sediment collected from the operational Ingoldisthorpe treatment wetland system.

Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC)

* Experimental procedures were standardised across all sediment samples.
* Flow conditions were controlled throughout the experiments.
* Turbidity instrumentation was calibrated prior to use.
* Data were checked for transcription and calculation errors prior to analysis.
* Missing values were retained as blank cells where applicable.
